During the months of June to September the rafting season is at it's peak. The rivers have plenty of water, the rapids are foaming white and the nature is greener than ever. 
Wildlife observation in the plains (llanos) becomes more difficult due to the abundance of water. That's when Arassari Trek offers an ideal 3 days tour for all of you which want to live some white water emotions and thrills combined with relaxing wildlife observation and bird watching, a 2 hour motorboat ride and some fun fishing and eating the ferocious pirañas. 
 

On day 1 we pass one of Venezuela's most beautiful and scenic roads. The Transandina with it's little villages, churches, cloud forest, lakes etc. We get to Campamento de aventura Arassari Trek around lunchtime. 
In the afternoon after a safety briefing we move on to our first raft. A stunningly beautiful, tropical landscape and a clear nice river of class 2 -3. We will stop to do some body rafting and to play around with the water in this great natural scenario. With a little luck we might even see some fish otters, toucans, macaws or monkeys before we get back to the Arassari Trek adventure camp. 
The overnight is in our comfortable new cabins in beds, private showers and toilets. 
Note: you can join and leave this trip in Barinas or get directly to our campsite after previous reservation.

Day 2  we leave the farm after breakfast and drive southwest down into the plains for about 2 to 3 hours. You can expect to see around 60 to 100 different bird species along this sideroad. Some caimans, capybaras, turtles and iguanas are usually sighted as well before we get to the small fisher village of Anaro. 
There we take a motorboat and go out on the river. Flocks of the green and red macaw (ara chloroptera), the biggest of all Ara's in Venezuela are not uncommon here at this time of year. We are boating upriver inside the Ticoporo Wood Reserve. Probably the northern most seen Pink River Dolphins and Hoatzin birds too. We'll visit some llaneros living practically surrounded by water, rivers, plains and jungle and have fun catching some pirañas with our fishing lines. ( careful we might eat them too !) Back at the fisher village we have late lunch...sometimes they prepare very exotic menu's such as capybara, catfish or agouties... but don't worry they have chicken and  normal meat as well. Drive back to the camp observing more wildlife and birds. Overnight at Campamento de aventura Arassari Trek.

Day 3  The "Emerald river"(Siniguis) coming down from the Sierra Nevada is our today's challenge. An amazing  class 4 to 5 river with good rapids and jumps for around 3 hours according to the water level. Splash for your cash. Unspoiled virgin nature with the 2 highest mountain peaks of Venezuela as background. For 7 consecutive years we have been the only company rafting down this great river....and so we are this year 2002. We'll make some rest stops on the river to swim or jump down one of the " Indiana Jones" hanging bridges. Lunch on the river shore at the end of the trip in our camp. A fantastic blend of adventure, wildlife, great landscapes and not to be missed if you visit this country in the rainy season.
