Merida's
"Premium Adventure Activity" Canyoning:
Exploration traveling down an incredibly beautiful canyon (Santa Catalina)
just 30 minutes away from our office. How - by walking, sliding, rolling
and abseiling (rappelling) down waterfalls dressed with neoprene wet
suits and Petzl harnesses and equipped with special static “ Mammut”
canyoning ropes.
Who: This is not a trip for the
faint hearted. This is the full on adventure trip. Expect to feel
the adrenaline pumping strong. Only those who want a real adventure
should participate. Fitness is NOT required - but some guts are !!
Itinerary:
Meet at Arassari Treks cybercafé and office 8 am. on the day
of the trip. Fit on the suits and 30 minutes jeep drive to the location.
Expect some amazing views of Mérida (perhaps the best available).
Another 30 minutes walk (mainly downhill) to the site. Some abseil training
is given - then it is time for the adventure of your life !!!
There are several small "chutes" to slide down, a heart pounding 7-
8 meters natural hydro slide (where you will get airborne !!), and three
powerful waterfalls to abseil (rappel) down including a 38 meters monster
at the end. The trip will return around 3 pm. (depending on numbers
and speed). The actual time in the canyon is around 4 hours aprox. Minimum
driving – maximum outside !
What
to Bring:
· Swimming costume or similar (to wear under your wet suit)
· Shoes for canyoning (they will get very wet!!!…and please wear
socks.)
· Clothes for the completion of the trip - and a towel.
· A great sense of adventure for a fun time!!
What
about Glasses/cameras etc.: glasses or contacts are normally
OK – bring a string for a tie for glasses. For the canyon, disposable
cameras or waterproof cameras are recommended. Normal Cameras cannot
be used in the canyon. Leave watches, earrings and other jewelry at
home or at the office. You will want photographic evidence of this one
!!

Ø All Canyoning equipment including helmets, harnesses, neoprene
canyoning wet suits etc.
Ø A maximum guide/client ratio of 1:5.
Ø Drilled and installed Petzl safety features with chains in
the canyon.

Other
important points:
Other important points: If you have a medical condition relevant
to canyoning please make this known to your guides as soon as possible
and bring your medication. We will make every practical attempt to canyon
- but due to rain or other reasons if the canyon becomes unsafe we reserve
the right to cancel the trip. A full refund will be given if we cancel
the trip.

rush ever ! Just follow the guides and you'll have a fab time....and live

| Here is a little comment from the first group going canyoning.
GREAT EXPERIENCE. The adrenaline was really pumping all th trip. But the
best were the 8 meter slide and the 37 meterabseil down the last waterfall.

I feel very priviledged to be one of the first "customers" to go on
this trip ...- and have the bruises and cuts to show for it. It's
possibly the maddest thing you can do without getting killed - the
rockpools, the ravines, the slides and waterfalls are all really amazing.
Pete, the guide is a real top fella and deserves a beer for his efforts.
