A classical Trip that
combines the
cable car, paramo and xerofite vegetation with one
of the most beautiful villages in the venezuelan andes. Hiking and
a 4 wheel drive on a breathtaking back country road but it is possible
to ride on mule back down the 15 kilometers to Los Nevados if
you wish. The "El Alto de la Cruz " pass is just below 4200 meters
but will certainly make you feel the altitude.
To add a little spice
to
it you could mountain bike back down to Merida the following day.
It requires good physical conditions and legs of steel. If you think
you are not up to it you will experience one of the
andean roller
coaster roads by
4 wheel drive.

farmer village of Los Nevados and a spectacular and breathtaking 4 wheel
drive through the Andes.
Who:
Anybody reasonably fit,
capable of walking during 5 to 7 hours mainly downhill. The max. altitude
is at 4200 meters...if you are an astmatic or suffer from heart or pulmonary
troubles, please tell us before. The drive
back is not recommended for people with vertigo.
What to bring:
Long trousers, warm sweater
or fleece, rainjacket or poncho, sunblock, hat, small flashlight, shorts,
good hiking boots, towel, personal items.

Important:
During high season every
day. In Low season the cable car is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and
trips cannot go out on these days.
