Primero que nada, quiero agradecerles y felicitarlos por su tour de rafting en barinas, la pasamos increible y aunque el viaje fue agotador valio la pena 200%. Desde la atencion que recibi por parte de Angel a traves de los emails (quien tuvo que armarse de paciencia por mis constantes preguntas y cambios), hasta el pilotaje de Rana (nuestro guia en el rio) la experiencia fue increible. Gracias por su ayuda y de nuevo felicitaciones por el trabajo que estan haciendo.

El pasado fin de semana 11 de Agosto estuvimos con ustedes haciendo rafting. Nuestro grupo fue de 23 personas. 
Quisieramos felicitarlos por tan ESPECTACULAR LUGAR, lleno de energía, mágico, la atención es maravillosa 5 estrellas!!, los guías son espectaculares (Arión, Samuel, Emmanuel, etc etc...) Los que manejaban los Kayak, las cabañas, la comida, los ríos, las clases, etc. 
Por favor NUNCA bajen el estándar de servicio con el que cuentan, es muy muy bueno. 
Ya estamos planificando visitarlos de nuevo!

Wie gehte es dir denn du alter Schwede! Ich schaue mir natürlich immer wieder Eure Website an und erinnere mich an die tollen 17 Jahre in Venezuela und an die Reiseleiterzeit bei Arassari. Im Jänner werden wir (Familie mit 3 Kindern !!! ) für ein paar Monate nach Merida kommen. Also liebe Grüße an deine Familie y a la guardia vieja !

we enjoyed our 2 trips with you that much and miss the wildlife allready. We did the Cutatumbo Lighting Tour with the "FLASH" Alan and the 4 days Tour with "DOC FROG" Cesar.  
We can outermost recommend ARASSARI Trek and their Team! These days were really spectacular.

I just would like to thank you for our incredible trip in LOS LLANOS one week ago. I really appreciated your efforts making our trip that extraordinary. Before our trip you promised a lot of things and at the end you kept all of your promises. That's was really great! Aprovecho esta para comentarles que tuvimos una experiencia de 3 dias y 2 noches haciendo rafting por sus 3 rios que fue una experiencia innovidable. El lugar del campamento y la atención brindada por los guias Enmanuael y las otras personas que nos asistieron, Jackeline, Audelina, etc. fueron excelente.  
Pasamos unos dias maravillosos y realmente lo recomendaría para todas aquellas personas que les gusten los deportes extremos.

Bin vor einer Woche von der Venezuelareise zurückgekommen. Die Tour mit bruno war echt spitze. Wir waren eine super Gruppe und bruno hat alles sehr gut organisiert. Vielen Dank auch an Tulio der sich ebenfalls sehr bemüht hat und mit dem wir 2 super Tage am Strand hatten.

PS. Lieber Tom, vielleicht solltest Du Ocumare aus dem Programm nehmen. Ich denke es gibt sicherlich schönerer Küstenabschnitte. Als Verängerung kann ich diesen Ort leider nicht empfehlen. Die Ausflüge sind zu teuer, außerdem ist man da wirklich ganz alleine, es ist unter der Woche überhaupt nichts los und der Ort selber ist nicht schön. Überall Ruinen und viel Müll am Strand. Viele, leider auch gefährliche Hunde laufen da auf der Straße rum.  
Sorry aber so war es leider nun mal!

Estimado Tom: 
Sin que pienses que lo que voy a decirte es un exceso de cortesía o un halago redundante, te confieso que pocos días de mi corta vida había disfrutado tanto y de cosas tan lindas e increíbles, yo creo que lo mejor de todo es que fue de una manera muy sencilla. Me sentía como si estuviera viajando con panas (Uds.). 
Por otra parte, te felicito por el extraordinario equipo de gente que has sabido reunir y mantener juntos durante tanto tiempo. La organización y la seriedad -dentro de la joda- se nota en cada miembro de arassari. 
Creo que nos veremos en noviembre, tengo pensado regresar unos días a disfrutar nuevamente con Uds. Mientras tanto seguiremos en contacto por esta u otra vía. De más está decirte que estoy a la orden por aquí en Caracas.  
Si es posible, me gustaría que me hicieras llegar el e-mail y algún tel. de Alan para ubicarlo y saludarle. Espero pronto enviarte unas cuantas buenas fotos que Angelika y yo tomamos. De resto, envíale mis saludos a tu esposa, Gerardo, Hermes, Roque y al resto de la gente que nos atendió tan bien todos esos días. 
Para despedirme, quisiera decirte que siempre he pensado que Venezuela es el libro más apasionante que jamás se haya escrito, nunca me canso de vivirlo y leerlo. Yo te agradezco por traducirlo a tantos idiomas y hacer que el mundo entero conozca un poco sobre este país, el mejor país del mundo.

Dear Allan, Have been meaning to contact you ever since I returned to U.K.,so apologies for the delay. I am still re-living the wonderful trip you organised for us to see your fabulous butterflies and other things, and wanted you to know just how much we appreciated all that you did for us.The party was so mixed in age and personality but I felt that you made time for each and every one of us.I won't mention every little thing that impressed me because it would take too long.It would not be an exaggeration to say that it was en exceptional trip for our family and an experience that we will hold for always. We have been on the Los Llanos tour the first week of August (from the 2th till the 6th), which was great, with Cezar (guide). He took a lot of nice pictures and we asked him to send us a few by e-mail (the one with the anteater, the owl, the kingfisher, the giant otters, and the capibaras).  
As he’s probably quite busy, he might have forgotten about it. Therefor, would you be so kind as to pass this e-mail on to him please?

Hello!  
Sorry not to have been able to enter our comments in the guest book in Merida but we run out of time. So here they are:  
We would just like to thank Alan Highton for being our guide on the tour to lake Maracaibo back in early August. A truly amazing experience, in terms of the variety of wildlife and plants. Adventurous memories of, the hammocks, the heat, the electrical storms, racing across the lake at great speed, cruising slowly down the mangrove channels seeking out exotic butterflies, and motoring past the variety of micro climates in our 'A Team' bus. 
The company was great too, a mixture of old and young (from 2 to 66!), from toddlers to the retired, from 'round the world' back packers, to a family looking for an alternative to camping in France. What made it, and put the icing on the cake, was Alan's ability to share his passion for his job, and good organisation that was relaxed enough to put us at ease and appreciate the surroundings, but confident that we were in safe hands. 
It was a real privilege!

Cómo estás?, te escribo que la pasamos buenísimo!!! todo el mundo disfrutó mucho. La atención no pudo estar mejor y las actividades de trabajo en equipo y alineación de objetivos del equipo de Colgate que fuimos quedaron MUY BUENAS, Don nos preparó unas actividades excelentes de las que aprendimos mucho.!!  
Por mi parte en la página de Arassari quedan muchas actividades todavía que me encantaría hacer con uds. Las cabalgatas y las excursiones por la montaña me llamaron mucho la atención...

Al principio estaba muy asustada con la idea de bajar por un río furioso! Pero al pasar por el primer rápido comencé a disfrutarlo muchisimo!!  
Ha sido una de las experiencias más emocionantes que he tenido en mi vida!!! Nunca olvidaré la sensación de pasar por un poderoso rápido y la gran cantidad de adrenalina que se siente en el cuerpo!  
Los guías buenisimos, super simpaticos y muy bien entrenados!

We had an excellent time on the Llanos trip. Even though it was wet season we saw a lot of wildlife, otters, capybaras and anaconda plus heaps of birds and reptiles. The guide Camilo was superb as was the whole team. We have travelled around Sotuh America for 5 months and this was one of the best experiences, thank you!

Hallo Tanja, 
vor einer Woche sind wir von unserer Venezuela-Reise zurückgekommen und sind völlig begeistert. 
Die Tour ist perfekt organisiert und Tom ist einer der allerbesten Guides, die man sich vorstellen kann und den wir je hatten. Er ist wirklich absolut supermotiviert, engagiert und informiert. Er wurde nicht müde, uns auf sehr, sehr anschauliche, informative und auch sehr witzige, lebendige Art Land, Leute und Politik sehr nahe zu bringen. 
Die Aktivitäten waren einfach genial, sehr heftig, vor allem das Canyoning, aber durch die Guides sehr sicher und es hat irrsinnigen Spaß gemacht. 
Insgesamt alles sehr ausgewogen und super aufeinander abgestimmt. 
In Venezuela selbst haben wir uns absolut sicher gefühlt. Allenfalls Caracas soll die Ausnahme sein, aber dort waren wir ja nur auf dem Flughafen. Alles in allem ein wunderschönes Reiseland, landschaftlich sehr vielfältig und abwechslungsreich. 
Könnte Begeisterungs- und Lobeshymnen nun noch endlos fortsetzen, aber um es kurz zu machen: die Tour war 100% perfekt und genau unser Ding. 
Die Begleitung durch Vox-Tours war ein zusätzliches Highlight, die Aufnahmen haben sehr, sehr viel Spass gemacht haben und das Team hat das ganze wirklich sehr dezent und souverän gemeistert. Wir haben die Aufnahmen wirklich nie als störend empfunden, im Gegenteil!!!! Sind nun sehr gespannt, was am Ende auf dem Bildschirm zu sehen sein wird. 
Als zusätzliche Informationen: wir mußten beim Abflug keine Ausreisesteuer zahlen, dafür darf man nach Los Roques nur 10 kg Gepäck mitnehmen. Für jedes zusätzliche Kilo werden 2000 Bs Aufschlag verlangt, natürlich keine Unsumme, nur vielleicht als Hinweis aufnehmen, dass man es vorher weiß. 
Also, vielen Dank an Euch und Tom für einen traumhaften Urlaub!!

Hi Alan - I just happened to cruise into the Arrasari web site today and it brought back a flood of memories. My wife Johanna and I went with you on a tour group about 5 years ago to los llanos. I really wanted to see an anaconda and kept going on about it - we found a small one in the river and then, just as we left the river we spotted a really huge one by the roadside which we caught together - this is probably such a common event for you that you may not remember it. For me though it was a fantastic experience, as was that whole trip from start to end. I've done a lot of stuff both before and after that - most recently a 12 day jungle survival course with Ray Mears in Borneo, but that los llanos trip still ranks as one of my best nature experiences yet. I had been in the amazon a good deal before the trip so it was not just the wow - factor of the animals that did it. It was mainly your enthusiasm and mix of profesionalism, genuine curiosity about the natural world and fun that was really contagious. I will always cherish those memories as one of the best times I've had and just wanted to let you know that.

Hallo, 
habe im Februar/März an der Abenteuerrundreis teilgenommen und kann nur sagen, es lohnt sich. Die Reise war genial. Dies lag vor allem an den Reiseleitern und guides, die alle Aktivitäten zu echten Events machten und mit ihrer Fröhlichkeit die Gruppe einfach mitrissen, gleichzeitig aber jederzeit auf die Sicherheit aller bedacht waren. Das wir infolge von Überschwemmungen hin und wieder etwas längere WEge in Kauf nehmen mussten und einzelne REiseteile etwas umgestellt werden mussten, wurde durch die großartige Betreuung mehr als kompensiert.  
Also allen, die noch am überlegen sind, ob sie sich zu dieser Reise entschließen. Macht es. Ihr wisst gar nicht, was euch sonst entgeht.

Los instructores estan muy bien calificados y la atencion en el campamento es de primera, es algo que definitivamente voy a repetir muchas veces... El fin de semana del 4 y 5 de septiembre tuve una gran sorpresa, encontrarme con una operación de Rafting en territorio venezolano a la altura de los mejores Rafting del mundo. Como dueño de Club Aventurismo en Caracas, suelo visitar todos los lugares donde envío a mis clientes, no solo para saber lo que estoy ofreciendo si no para poder informar al cliente lo que se va a encontrar. Fui con ojo muy critico y buscando quizás algún defecto, pues esto fue imposible, absolutamente todo esta bajo control y estricto orden, las cabañas en perfecto estado de limpieza, camas con lencería en perfecto estado, comedor y cocina limpios y alimentos de buena calidad y abundantes, equipo de Rafting en perfecto estado, personal muy bien entrenado y educado. Creo no equivocarme pero es la mejor operación de turismo de aventura que existe hoy día en Venezuela.

Estamos gratamente complacidos de todas las aventuras vividas. Especialmente al trato y profesionalismo de todos los que allí trabajan, Edgar, Joan y Rana, fueron unos excelentes anfitriones, con una exclente atención y manejo de la logística. Donde debemos llamar de su atención es respecto a la posada La Loma en Mesa Bolívar, quines nos manifestaron no haber recibido ni la llamada nuestra ni la de ustedes, por lo que no estaban preparados y donde se presentaron inconvenientes respecto a la comida y un clima de incomodidad por parte de los señores de la posada, considero que es importante que consideren la situación para futuras oportunidades ya que ustedes prestan un servicio de calidad.

Hallo Tom, 
uns hat der Alltag gleich wieder maechtig eingeholt.  
Die Tage im Paradies bleiben fuer uns unvergesslich. All unsere Erwartungen wurden erfüllt – ja sogar zum Teil uebererfuellt. Die Reise war sehr schoen und vor allem erlebnisreich. Dank Deiner individuellen Führung haben wir unheimlich viel von Land und Leuten erfahren und gesehen. Danke auch an Deine oertlichen Reiseleiter! Alle waren immer toll drauf, hatten unheimlich grosse Geduld und voller Einsatzfreude. Auch war Eure Kooperationsbereitschaft, damit wir noch puenktlich nach Los Roques kommen konnten, unkompliziert und hilfreich. Wir kamen uns vor wie im Urlaub! Um nichts brauchten wir uns selbst kuemmern, und dennoch waren wir stets gut beschäftigt. Genau das Richtige für Leute wie wir, die nicht so gern am Strand liegen. 
Unser Urteil: Sehr empfehlenswert! 
Was wir auch sehr positiv empfanden – die Reiselektuere hat gehalten was sie versprochen hat, und mann konnte sich so praktisch und mental bestens vorbereiten. 
Macht weiter so! Lasst es Euch im Paradies gut gehen und bereitet noch vielen Touristen unvergessliche Tage in Venezuela. 
Auch persönlich alles Gute für die Familie und Euer tolles Haus in bester Lage.

Primero que nada felicitaciones por la agencia que tienen y por la calidad de la gente que trabaja en ella. La verdad que la pasamos de maravilla. El paseo de Rafting en Doradas estuvo muy bueno y el de Canyoning estuvo alucinante. Debo reconocer que lograron hacerme adicto al Rappel. No veo la hora de hacerlo nuevamente. Es muy cierto eso de que Arassari es un 'distribuidor de adrenalina'. 
Un saludo y agradecimiento a todo el equipo de Arassari y en especial a Tom, Raquel, El Rana, Dilfran y Ali que se portaron bárbaro con nosotros. No se sorprendan si ahora empiezan a llegar más Uruguayos por ahí. ;-)

Arassari son los mejores y la valle donde tiene lugar el river rafting es tan hermosa que tengo que volver. Una vez llegas a Mérida y pruebas las actividades de Arassari no hay forma de irse: nosotros probamos canyoning, rafting y un tour por el Catatumbo. El rafting y el canyoning fueron impresionantes. A ver si lograis encontrar más ríos y torrentes para ampliar vuestra oferta. Sería perfecto poder repetir en alguna ocasión está experiencia. Todos los que podáis no os la perdáis.

El Fin de semana del 18/10/2003, me toco , con mi Esposa, Mi Hermano y un grupo de amigos, vivir la experiencia mas grande en mi vida que a actividad de deportes extremos se refiere. Me enorgullezco de poder contar con una agencia, tan bien organizada, que nos brinde la Oportunidad de vivir esta experiencia, actividad de adrenalina pura aqui en Venezuela, Mi Pais, Mi Gran Pais, que grandiosa tierra. 
Gracias Arassari por estar ahi, y bridarnos ese espacio y conocer la otra cara de Venezuela. Lejos, pero muy lejos de lo que tradicionalmente nos llenaban los medios de comunicion tradicional, que siempre han dado la imagen de desconfianza y desastres, tanto interno como externo. Pero puedo decir que Nuestra Venezuela es otra, la de la gente de trabajo, gente humilde, sincera y con muchas ganas de trabajo para fortalecer este proceso de cambio y transformacion. 
Gracias, a todo el personal de ARASSARI, en especial a ' La rana, Samuel , Enmanuel' Los Pilotos del Rafting, Gracias a Nestor, Esposa e hijos, por su calida atencion.

Todo el fin de semana fue excelente, no veiamos la hora de llegar desde que salimos de Caracas hasta Barinas para hacer nuestra aventura de Rafting, el mejor que he hecho hasta ahora y lo mejor es que se puede hacer dentro de Venezuela sin ir a otros paises, el esfuerzo valió la pena, asi como los golpes y el cansancio, no nos arrepentimos y esperamos volver pronto, para sentir nuevamente la adrenalina. Oh my GOD. Each time I visit venezuela and my dear friends in Merida it fucks with my mind. Always feels like coming home somewhat. In August did the Catatumbo and my personal favourite: Los Llanos. Even though it was the wet season I enjoyed myself like I always do. Thanks Roger (Catatumbo) and Cesar (Llanos). Venezuela necer ceases to amaze me. Now Tom showed me some of the Lost city footage. Gotta see it some day. I'll be back. Mothers lock up your daughters.Wahaha.  
Guys keep this great thing goin till I've earned enough to visit you again. Alan excellent catch this new Morpho butterfly. Bueno mis panas....sigo soñando de Los Llanos y sus animales el atardecer en el Rio mirando las toninas con un ron Sta Teresa o cacique o pampero. Nunca estoy aburrido de visitarles. Hasta pronto. Viva Venezuela, viva arassari. Everybody should chack this stuff out for real at once in their lifetimes.

Excelente, supero divertido y seguro. La comida es buenisima y super sana. Solo recomendamos llevar todos los papeles del carro porque hay alcabalas matraqueras en el camino. No olvidar la cámara impermeable. Adelante remo adelante

Felicitaciones. Antes que nada un cordial y afectivo saludo a todos los de Arassari, les escribo para darles las gracias por el excelente fin de semana que pasamos haciendo rafting, canyoing, disfrutando de la buena comida en el campamento y en la sede de Arassari en Merida. 
De verdad que no tengo palabras para felicitarlos, su trato es tan profesional como amigable, que lo hacen sentir a cada uno, no como cliente si no como un miembro de una gran familia deportiva... Especiales saludos y felicitaciones a Edgar, su puntualidad al buscarnos por los Guasimitos nos dio seguridad sobre lo profesional de la compañia, a Joan, Rana, Nestor y su familia, en especial a su esposa, realmente la comida que preparo para todos nosotros fue sumamente suculenta y apetitosa; a Osama( no recuerdo su nombre), a Samuel, que nos enseño muchas tecnicas y su gran entusiasmo como piloto nos dio mas seguridad en el río, felicitaciones especiales para el; a Julio muy buen guia, excelente su paseo y comentarios en el canoying hicieron el dia realmente espctacular; a Angel, que desde el momento de las reservaciones siempre nos dio un trato ameno y agradable, sus consejos sobre donde comer y hacer cosas en Merida fueron de gran ayuda, y su preocupación por cuadrarnos el paquete con nuestro vuelo fue excelente; a Wuzz, la seguridad que brinda con su presencia no tiene comparación, sumamente profesional y agradable. Y felicitaciones y agradecimientos especialisimos a Tom y Raquel, por tener una compañia tan magnifica y completa que brinda gran calidez humana, y muestra las bellezas de nuestro país tanto a naturales como a extranjeros, nunca olvidare la vista desde la casa de ustedes. En fin un abrazo general para toda la gente de Arassari, felicitaciones, sigan adelante en sus proyectos, y espero volver pronto a verlos, y disfrutar de alguna de las aventuras que tiene siempre preparadas para el disfrute de todos.

Hay Tom! 
I had a great time in Venezuela, especially in Merida! (thanks to arassari) Now I´m back in Holland and I´m really glad we brought the underwater camera with us to the canyoning so i can show my mother how brave I was! And the paragliding was also cool.(But the trip in the jeep up to the mountain is much more scary!) By the way; Los Rocques was really great, a nice way to end your holiday. 
I wish you good luck with your cheese fondue experiment, if you need some dutch cheese, just call! ;) And I hope your cook will show up today...

hola al mundo estero.no a la gerra. les quiero recomendad los turs de arassari yo me encuentro en españa soy venezolano, no se imaginan lo genial que se encuentra en esas vacaciones con estas gentes tan maravillosas es lo primero te hacen sentir como que tu estas en tu casa el trato es genial para todo desde los guias hasta los visitantes es el poder hacer algo que no has hecho nunca es el mejor anti_estres mejor sicologo porque sales de alli con ganas de hacer muchas cosas resistir el rafting que siempre creistes que se hace nada mas en otros paises el cayoning ni se diga siempre tenia miedo cuando tom y su esposa me invitatan a hacerlo hasta que lo hice y fue la mejor esperiencia en probarte a ti mismo que eres capas de lograrlo algo de sumo cuidado pero los guias son tan preparados fisica mental y emosionalmente que no tienes miedo a la gran prueba asi que uds en venezuela y el mundo entero, venezuela es un pais tanto su gente como su geografia te esperan para que vivas esas esperiencias.no se arepentiran un abrazo

Hola Angel y equipo Arassari Trek: 
Quiero mandarles este email para darles un millon de gracias por todas sus atenciones y haberme ayudado a llegar a la cumbre del Pico Humboldt y el Pico Bolívar. Quiero comentarles que la expedición fue un rotundo éxito y se desarrollo una gran unión entre todos los miembros de la expedición. 
Les mando una gran felicitación y un gran abrazo a Julio, Miguel y Arnaldo que de verdad trabajaron en conjunto para hacernos sentir lo mejor posible. Estas son personas que no se conforman con hacer lo mínimo sino mas bien con impresionarnos y estar siempre preocupados por nosotros... Si le pudieran comentar a los guías estas palabras se los agradecería. 
Es importante que Arassari Trek sepa que en el momento de cualquier otra expedición u otra aventura (como las que Angel me mostró) no dudaré en contactarlos y dejarlos manejar el tour con los ojos cerrados debido a que esta vez me demostraron excelencia en la organización. 
Los aprecia muchísimo y se despide un nuevo cliente contento

El cnayonning es una de las mejores experiencias que he vivido en mi vida. Aunque se siente un poco de miedo -al principio- el descender por las cascadas te da una sensación de libertad y de que realemnte estás viva. I do appreciate all the things Tom has done for our country and i guess many people in Venezuela don't realize how beautiful and geil is it. 
I am at the moment in Switzerland and i have been talking how excelent is my country , hopefully there are Venezuelan people (even foreign ones) who care about The greatest country of the World (to be honest). 
You guys are just building with hard work the still virgen Venezuela. 
Just a little thing makes a big difference...aptitud. And that's way venezuelan people have to get into the point and keep our country such as the most expectacular of the world (tip top).

War echt eine geniale Zeit, die wir bei Tom verbringen durften. Trotz Staatskrise hatte Tom immer wieder optimistische Worte für uns und nicht zuletzt seine unschlagbare Überzeugungskraft für diverse Touren - WIR HABEN ES NIE BEREUT. Thanx auch an ALLAN - The best Guide in Town :-). Zusammenfassend können Wir Arassari Trek nur jedermann und jederfrau, die nicht nur was sehen, sondern auch etwas erleben wollen nur wärmstens empfehen.

Many Thanks to Alan and a spectacular 4 day tour of the Llanos. Amazing wildlife, scenery, and all round good laughs and adventure. Learnt many new jokes from Alan (most were funny) but after 4 days even my jokes were getting tired (ask Alan about the Daddy with two dicks). Almost gaught a crocodilian but it was bigger and stronger than anticipated. Anyway I had a go. The tree boa around my neck was a first. Also special thanks to Tom and Raquel for a wonderful Christmas dinner at Arassari Trek and his great hospitality all round. A crazy/fun swiss guy. He may become President of Venezuela one day. Anyway, had a great time in Merida/Los Llanos and could recommend it to anyone. Have a Happy New Year.

Amigos queridos, tenemos que confesarles que el CANYONING ha sido la aventura mas extrema, loca y audaz que hemos vivido en todos estos años. Supongo que la ignorancia absoluta de lo que hariamos hizo el momento mucho mas insolito. Ahi entendi que me atrevere a todo. Gracias al cielo tienen gente muy bien preparada que te da toda la confianza de la Tierra. Juro que en ningun momento me senti en peligro. Confiamos plenamente y seguimos las indicaciones. Es tremenda alegria saber que lo hacen bien y que siempre dejaran en alto el turismo de aventura en Venezuela. Ojala que el proximo año podamos finalmente gozar el rafting en Barinas. Deliro por hacerlo. Espero que hayamos colaborado a que la gente se atreva a probar este tipo de turismo, especialmente entre los locales. A couple of years back (during the time as Bum Bum) I did a handful of stuff with you folks, the most memorable of which were the Catatumbo Delta trip with Alan and two paragliding trips with Raul. I'm still hoping to get back to Merida and actually take some paragliding lessons one of these days. I've rarely felt as amazing and amazed as I did when I was up in the air like that. In general, all your guides were so much more helpful and welcoming than a tour book could ever be. 
I am happy to see that you folks are still doing all your great work in getting people 'out of town' and into the mountains and forests. I miss Venezuela every day!

If whitewater fun en adrenaline peaks are what you are looking for, arassari trek is surely the company that can help you!!! 
The 3 day rafting adventure was the best rafting i've ever done: Not only the rapids were exellent but also the unspoiled rivers and the envirroment in whitch the action takes place are breathtaking... 
The campside is a little paradise, the food was exellent, the rum and the bears where even better! 
The crew is really experianced (they are life-savers!) 
Rafting the Paquare River in Costa Rica was fun, but 'peanuts' compared to the arrasari raft-expedition. Thanks for the action and the fun. 
If you combine the rafting with the exellent 'los llanos wildlive safari' as we did you end up with a full-week andventure you will never forget, an adventure defenitively worth flying over for. 
Tom, Raquelle, 'wozz', camillo, and all the others... THANKS FOR EVERYTHING

Estuvimos alla el fin de semana de Agosto 10 y 11, todo estuvo excelente, los felicito de verdad por hacer este tipo de turismo con tan buena calidad y ambiente, la pasamos excelente, saludos a Enmanuel por su profesionalismo y aconsejamos a todos probar alguna vez esta experiencia, en el campamento todo excelente, se los recomiendo a todos, si les sirve de dato prueben irse el viernes en la noche a fin de hacer una ruta dura en bicicleta con unos paisajes alucinantes, pero no olviden preguntarle a Nestor por todos los cruces de la ruta Ahh...!!! recuerden preguntar a todo el mundo que encuentren el el camino...!!! hay unos cruces que casi ni se ven... El canyoning con Arassari fue excelente, tanto Dilfran como Julio se portaron excelente y con sus chistes y comentarios, consejos y entrenamiento nos hicieron pasar al grupo de Turismo y Hoteleria de la USB la mejor experiencia de nuestras vidas. Esta es una actividad super extrema, y la adrenalina que se siente al bajar las cascadas y en el salto de la desicion entre paredes es impresionante. Es mejor no pensar mucho al saltar. Eso si, lleven zapatos que se agarren bien al suelo, que yo mas de una vez comi tierra. Saludos y felicitaciones!!!

Ayer regresamos del fin de semana en Barinas. Todo salió perfecto, los ríos estaban muy bien, la pasamos excelente. Lo mas grato fue la sorpresa del nuevo campamento, es tercera vez que vamos y los años anteriores, esa había sido nuestra única queja, las instalaciones no estaban al nivel del servicio que ustedes estaban dispuestos a prestar. Las habitaciones, baños, comida, equipos, todo de maravilla. Así que los felicitamos por el esfuerzo y estamos seguros que se verá traducido en cantidad de asistentes.

Hola Angel: 
Felicitaciones 
Sólo quería agradecerte lo bien que cuadraste todo, este fin de semana pasado del 5 al 7 de Julio estuve en el campamento del río Acequias y lo pasé fenomenal (con todo y el bollo que me metí). 
Samuel fue nuestro héroe....nos sacó a todos del río, casi al mismo tiempo, aquel hombre parecía un pulpo. Hasta el pobre Allan fue a parar al río. Pregúntale que si no quiere llamarse ahora Capitan Pulpo. Jajajajajjajajaja............Si no fuese por él dos de mis amigas (que no sabían nadar) se hubiesen podido tragar medio río. 
Claro lo mejor de todo fue cuando de regreso, camino al aeropuerto de Barinas, le comenté a Enmanuel que lo único que le faltaba era incluir el postre en las comidas y el hizo una parada técnica en el Mc Donald´s de Barinas (y que para que nos comiéramos unos heladitos, y de paso merendarse Wuz, Alan y él una hamburguesita). 
En fin, los felicito y los animo a que monten algo con la misma calidad de lo de Barinas hacia Canaima, cuéntale a Raquel y a Tom que hacia esa zona no hay casi alternativas o es exageradamente costoso o es muy barato y pasas el trabajo parejo.

Estuve hace poco en el campamento haciendo rafting y me pareció excelente, de verdad hicieron de algo sencillo un lugar muy acogedor. Es imposible no relajarse y sentirse cómodo. Muy buena comida sobretodo las ensaladas (lo único que añadiría son arepitas en el desayuno). 
Una de mis recomendaciones a futuro para el campamento es poner una piscinita, e manera que uno se relaje después que llega de la experiencia extrema de los rápidos en la noche.

¿Como estan? 
Bueno, para empezar les dire que soy una persona que viaja bastante y que ello ha dado lugar a que haya podido conocer bastantes paises y culturas por todo el mundo, pero sin duda alguna el pais que mas me ha impresionado hasta ahora ha sido Venezuela. 
Sobre Arassari, no hay duda alguna que para nosotros (yo y Oscar, mi compañero de viaje), fue algo fundamental el tratar con Arassari. Nuestras dudas hacia ellos, fueron todas las que tu puedas tener y las que han podido tener toda la gente que por mediacion de Angel Barreto se han puesto en contacto con nosotros para saber si eran de fiar y que tal se lo montaban a nivel de programas. Desde luego en un pais con desgraciada fama de haber mucha delincuencia, Arassari aparece como un oasis en medio del desierto. Nosotros contratamos todos los programas a traves de Internet y te puedo asegurar que todo, todo se cumplio tal y como nos dijo Angel. Mas aun te puedo decir que en los vuelos dentro del pais, nos ahorramos bastante dinero pues Angel se encargo de buscarnos las compañias mas baratas y las tarifas mas economicas. El trato que nos dio tanto Angel como los guias que tuvimos para nuestros programas fue fantastico y no puedo decir que tenga ninguna queja sobre a lo que Arassari se refiere. En resumen les dire que en la zona de Merida, no hay ninguna Agencia de este tipo que se pueda poner al nivel de Arassari en ninguno de los aspectos (antes de regresar quisimos comparar con otras agencias). 
El pais tal y como les comente antes es una pasada, rico en diversidad de paisajes. La gente (en los estados de Barina, Merida y Apure que son los estados donde yo estuve), es encantadora. En los estados que les he comentado, no hay violencia como hayas podido oir de Caracas ciudad la cual no fuimos ni a visitar y todo es muy barato, en especial los alojamientos y la alimentacion. La cultura en estos tres estados es mas bien precolombina aunque nos costo acceder a ella. 
Aunque pasamos por los tres estados mencionados anteriormente, fuimos a ver zonas concretas. 
Estuvimos en Los Llanos (algo que recomiendo sin ningun tipo de duda), lleno de una diversidad de Fauna que no habia visto anteriormente y donde de principio a fin, fue toda una aventura (la piraña y la carne de rata, digan lo que digan esta riquisima). 
Tambien estuvimos un dia y una noche en el campamento Arassari, donde pudimos hacer tripa (es increiblemente divertido y emocionante), aunque para esta epoca tu podras hacer rafting, (que nosotros no pudimos hacer), en un rio, no solo bonito, si no impresionante. 
Seguidamente escalamos el pico Humbolt ( 5.000 m.s.n.m. aprox.). He de decir que esto fue mas duro y lo tomamos como un reto personal, pero no dejo de ser toda una aventura (que me ha animado a hacer un pico mas alto la proxima vez). Si, es cierto nos cansamos mucho y el mal de altura nos sento fatal, ademas tambien pasamos algo de frio, pero no todo el mundo puede decir que ha subido 5.000 metros y ha andado por un glaciar enorme. En este ultimo programa, fuimos con dos guias y eramos un grupo de 9 personas en total. Angel nos proporciono todo el material (buen material) y la comida.........

Arassari is simply excellent. I took a tour to Los Llanos, I had a great time, very well organized, guides are professional and you really see what they promise. It is highly recommneded!

This is a magic experience and I recommend to take one of the rafting tours. If I have time I will do it again. The food is terrific.

Die letzten Tage bin ich ein wenig auf eurer Seite 'gesurft' und erinnere mich all der schoenen Tage die ich als Tourguide bei Arassari erlebte. Es war eine sehr schoene Zeit und ganz nebenbei habe ich auch noch meine Frau kennengelernt. Allerdings musste ich erst ein paar Crocs fangen, damit ich ihr Herz erobern konnte, Ha!Ha! Na ja, um ehrlich zu sein, mir fehlen meine Anden sehr und ich denke auch gerne an die schoene Zeit zureuck, die ich bei Euch als Reiseleiter hatte. Llanos und Catatumbo sind top!! Durch Zufall bin ich auf eure Website gestossen und erinnere mich nun an den besten Trip meines Lebens. Es ist allerdings schon lange her. Februar 99 war ich auf eurer Llanos Tour und es war sagenhaft. Unglaublich diese Anzahl von Ibis, Storch, Reiher und all die anderen fliegenden Tiere. Wahrscheinlich sah ich in der Lagune auf der grossen Farm tausende Voegel!!!! Wirklich nicht uebertrieben. Ach ja und Krokodile, Anacondas(gleich 3 ) und und und. Es war wirklich fantastisch. Absolut zu empfehlen. Super organisiert ! Arassari vielen Dank nochmals auch wenn es sehr spaet kommt! Saludos auch an Heiko, der war wirklich 'chevere' und hat mir viel gezeigt und Land und Leute naeher gebracht

We stayed in the only 1-bedroom posada known to mankind, a very comfortable appartment hanging from the cliff wall beneath the teleferico.Next time we'll be needing a key to the front door however, so that Tom can stay in bed. Very cool view! The paragliding was great, but what else can you expect from a champion glider as your pilot! Awesome to fly high above a soaring eagle at an altitude of a few hundred meters. The canyonning was exiting, exhausting and exhillerating and adrenaline was pumping hard. Well worth the fear and muscle ache and an absolute must. And after our day long walk down 15 km's of dirt and rock from Pico Aspejo to Los Nevadas, and a night in that little outpost, it was good to be back in Merida. Thanks to Tom and Angel for their help, tips and humor. They run the best outfit over there. We'll be back!

I took the three day/three thrill rafting trip to Barinas and had the most wonderful experience yet. I left Caracas full of stress and came back renewed in energy. The trip itself is worthwile (full of Green wild life and crystal water). The Arassari team was experienced and taught us very well. We could see how much progress we made from day 1 to day 3. I never throught I could do this, now I think I cannot live without doing it again!!!

A week and half ago we have enjoyed the Los Llanos tour with the super guide Cesar... thank's fot this.. although we wre not to expect any reptiles like anacondas, boa's of aligators we saw them al on our first night trip on the Apure river.. this was only possible because of the sharp eyes of the guide and the kaptain of the ship... it was incredible... the othwer days were also very good... especially the horseback trip for about 4 hours throug the beautiful and sometimes jungle like landscape.. I am very glad that we have booked the tour at Arassari tours.. and that we even could enjoy a very good and romantic night in their only hotelroom.... thank's again you are the best…

Ignoraba que en Venezuela se hicieran estas actividades, tan bien organizadas, con profesionalismo, responsabilidad, seguridad y con una visión de futuro del turismo. El 24 de junio fui con un grupo a hacer rafting y la experiencia fue extremadamente gratificante, adrenalina y emoción al máximo, los instructores transmiten una seguridad tal que no importaba por donde estuviésemos o la situación que se presentara, no había preocupación o temor alguno, solo diversión y asombro de estar ahí. Sinceramente recomiendo hacer turismo con Assari Trek, tal fue el grado de satisfacción que varios de los que fuimos al rafting estamos organizando hacer el combis en Merida y más adelante seguir participando en las demás actividades.

Hi from Bulgaria. I want to thank you for the wonderful time I had in Merida one week ago. I went to the Canyoning for a day and wasn't quite sure if there's going to be enough adreneline, but from the first waterfall it was clear - thats going to be a promising day. And whe we came to the monster....incredible. And about los llanos tour which was next day and i missed it cos i hade a plane to catch in Caracas......my friendstold me it was great, great, great. And that the guy - Alan - is really a professional. Next time I'll do it again! THANKS !

A LLANOS ADVENTURE After going on safaris in Africa, I was a bit skeptical of the 'Llanos Wildlife Safari' I saw advertised for the llanos of Venezuela. I was wrong. Fortunately I tried it, and I feel like my life here has been greatly enriched.Our tour of four days and three nights, booked with Arassari Trek, began with a flight to Barinas, where we met our group of nine and tour leader Alan Highton. Our diverse group (2 Dutch nurses, 2 French ski instructors/musicians, a Swiss carpenter, and an American college professor) bonded quickly and the discussions and shared new experiences added another layer of enjoyment and memories to this trip.By sunset the first night we were peacefully on the Apuri River surrounded by the sights and sounds of the llanos river life, when suddenly dozens of freshwater dolphin began jumping all around us. After dark we began our count of crocodiles and anaconda along the river's edge, but this part of the tour was also interactive - you have to experience it! Afterwards, we settled into a very basic (a la Peace Corps Volunteer style) house and we ate a good meal of chicken, salads, bean dishes, and fruit. Beer was plentiful for those who wanted it, and talk went on - until it was time to string up our hammocks (equipped with mosquito nets). The next morning we were on the river again, traveling to an 80,000 acre llanos water buffalo ranch. After another good meal and siesta at the ranch we embarked on my first horseback ride in 15 years, through open grasslands, across shallow rivers, into primary forests and jungle. Despite worries of derriere pain, I had almost none and felt proud I had accomplished something I had not planned to do again, and had seen some beautiful scenery in one of the most natural ways to see it.After a night at the ranch we were back on the river and stopped to do some fishing - for piranha! One could learn to unhook them oneself, or Alan and his assistant were ready to help. They were truly abundant, but we learned that most types of piranha are actually vegetarians. Back in the boat, we were on our way to the first night's house and another great tasting lunch - this time, the meat was piranha, reputed to have aphrodisiac powers! After lunch we traveled to our night's destination on a small farm in the mountains, stopping at a roadside 'zoo' that featured the largest rodent on the planet, a giant guinea pig looking animal, the catyburu. We arrived at our destination, ate heartily, drank, told bad jokes and laughed a lot, and strung up the hammocks on a pristine mosquitoless mountainside. Our final day started with good food and a hike through lush mountain terrain to a river, where we selected our truck size inner tubes for floating downriver. It was reliving a bit of my childhood tubing down a gentle Minnesota river, though it was harder getting in and out of the tubes than I remembered! The rapids were big enough to be fun but not dangerous, and at times we formed 'trains' and closed our eyes as we were carried over the rocks and rapids.It was hard to say goodbye to our new friends, but we exchanged addresses and promises to see one another again. In fact, the college professor stayed at our home a few nights later.The llanos safari was a trip we will remember for a long time. Unbelievably, it was even very affordable by Venezuelan standards. The four-day, three-night package complete with meals and hammocks was $180 per person. Round-trip airfare was $100 per person, but we flew into Barinas instead of Merida and skipped the ride down the mountains from Merida to Barinas - well worth it and only an extra ½ day. Como guia turistico he echo muchas cosas en estas tierras venezolanas, pero Tom me llevo al maximo de la adrenalina con el canyoning, es realmente el tour donde la seguridad es estrema, pero la adrenalina es ilimitada de echo tengo luego de varios dias la adrenalina en mis venas. te lo recomiendo, luego te comeras al mundo…

Zufaellig habe ich Eure Website gefunden und mich an die schoene Zeit letztes Jahr im August erinnert. Die Llanostour und dann Catatumbo mit Eurem Guide Heiko war echt groszartig. Super organisiert, preislich toll und ein Guide, der wirklich das Land in und auswendig kennt. Es war, als ob man mit einem Freund reist. War wirklich super! Ja was kann ich den so zu Arassari 'Bum Bum' sagen? Also die 'los llanos' - Tour kann ich wirklich emfehlen. War absolut begeistert. Ist quasi ein muss. Das Canyoning ist auch eine ganz coole Sache, man sollte aber vorher unter den 'coments' nachlesen.(findet aber auch viel übertriebenes Zeug darin). Arasaari gehört zwar zu den teuersten Unternehmen, wenn nicht das teuerste, dafür passt auch wirklich alles. Ich war auf alle Fälle sehr zufrieden. Grüsse Joe!

We visited Merida last August, absolutely fantastic place. Thoroughly recommend 2 day white water rafting. Watch out for the monkey likes to shake your hammock in the morning!

If you are thinking of booking a trip with Arassari Trek (Bum Bum tours), DO IT! I can whole heartily recommend it. Seriously. And I'm speaking from experience. I went on their Llanos trip in the summer of 1998 (I've been meaning to write this for ages!) with an assortment of Euro-bods and had a real scream. Educational, exciting, great fun and saw some incredible sights, both natural and geographic. The 'Monkey-on-a-pig' will cause tears of joy in anyone who has been on the trip and seen it. Alan, one of the Llanos tour guides is an experienced and extremely knowledgeable naturalist and is game for adventure. To anyone in the UK who saw the recent (Feb '00) programme about those fools who went into the Amazonian rainforest to 'discover and protect' the Indians and marvelled at the surrounding vegetation and wildlife will be taken straight into it with this trip (albiet not directly into thick tropical rainforest), but will experience such locations. Tom at the office in Merida is a gem. Experienced, knowledgeable and above all, HONEST. You'll be supplied with as much advice as you can ask for and will not be (even slightly) pushed into anything. The choice is YOURS. And most of those involved speak fluent English which is a serious bonus for all the dialectly-challenged English spods out there! If you get the chance whilst in Venezuela, try and get up to Lake Maraciabo to see the (almost perpetual) lightening. An absolutely incredible natural phenomenem. Arassari do a trip up there, although I went there by myself as they were running short of guides at the time. Well worth a couple of days of anyones life! The air is pure, the people lovely and the countryside beautiful - hooray for Venezuela! Oh, learn some Spanish and take a hat!

Hi, last august me and my boyfriend had the most incredible trip of our life. we did the llanos tour and our tourguide heiko (i think he is austrian or german, but lives since 17 years in venezuela), was marvellous. he told us before the trip that in rain season there are not so much animal to see. but anyway we had to highlights, he caught a huge crocodile with his bare hand!!! we couldn't believe it! it was in the middle of the night on the big river. i think it was more than one and a half meter. it was moving so strong that he needed the help of the boatman (i think his name was caesar, funny guy). next day when we did the horsebackriding, he found a big boa and also caught it with his bare hand. it was really scary, but he was excited, he told us that he never caught a boa, only big anacondas. he is crazy ! but a great guide. the whole trip was amazing ! thank you Arassari and please thanks again to heiko for sharing so much of his knowledge.
