FLOATING
RIVER SAFARIS
(December to April)
In the months of the dry season Arassari Trek offers river
expeditions from 4 to 10 days. The rafts and other inflatable boats will
be used for wildlife observation paddling downstream the animal packed
rivers of the upper and lower llanos. Fishermen welcome ! Some trips will
be "real expeditions" !... and will include all land- and river transports,
food, drinks, hammocks with mosquito nets, tents, fishing gear , experienced
bi-lingual outdoor guide and lots of fun, adventures and new experiences.
(Minimum
5 pax)
The llanos is known to be one of South Americas best places for
wildlife - and bird watchers. Silently and in a very ecological way we
will row down river observing, exploring, daydreaming, fishing, taking
photographs and camping out next to a fire every night. The varied fauna
and flora, the sounds of animals and birds 24 hours a day, the sun and
the moon, the freshwater dolphins jumping around the boat, the stars
and the fireflies make this trip most memorable.
The list of all birds and animals spotted on a trip would be to long.
The most common ones include: howler-, capuchin- and spider monkeys, iguanas
and chameleons, caimans, amazonas fresh water dolphins, anacondas and boas,
tamanduas, giant otters, different types of turtles, capybaras, agouties,
foxes, parrots and macaws, egrets, herons, ibis, hoatzins, spoonbills,
vultures, eagles, hawks, cormorants, kingfishers, jabirus, maguari storks,
falcons, owls and quantities of other strange creatures such as electric
eels, stingrays, piranhas etc. All persons going on a River Safari should
be adventure minded and conscientious about the fact that we are way out
of reach of civilization. An open mind, love for mother nature as well
as social behavior and active participation in all situations is condition
to go on a Float.
